It can be incredibly difficult to deal with the government. Luckily, with the advent of the Internet, the U.S. government has modernized and much of the information you are seeking can be found on your computer without leaving your house or wasting a lot of time.

Government sites will usually offer a comprehensive list of numbers so you can connect directly with the proper person or department without having to be transferred back and forth and deal with all the wrong people. You may also find FAQ sections that will allow you to find the answer to your question or problem without even having to pick up the phone.
